Project Summary

The sustainable commuting project established by the Fairfax Media head office in Pyrmont, is an excellent example of a workplace initiative that encourages active living in a number of ways:

• Strategic partnerships with transport providers to increase non-car modes of transport
• Range of public transport options close to buses and light rail
• Support for staff to purchase cost effective annual public transport passes through salary deductions
• Comprehensive strategy to promote and support cycling amongst staff who live 10km or less from the office
• High quality subsidised end of trip facilities, including secure bicycle storage, lockers, showers and a towel service
• Corporate partnership with local bicycle shop providing a range of benefits to staff.
